rating decisions I made during my renovation ๐ก #homedecor #renovation #interiordesign
Here are 6 decisions I made during my renovation and how Iโd rate them.
Going with a white kitchen. 5/10. As time has gone on, I wish Iโd gone with something bolder. I like the splashback and worktop, but I think brown cabinets with brushed brass handles wouldโve been much more interesting and maybe even a little bit classy.
Adding soundproofing underlay. 9/10. This was quite expensive, but worth it because my downstairs neighbours can no longer hear me stomping around.
Replacing the polystyrene insulation with proper insulationโฆ 10/10. The place feels so much more cozy and warm, so this was a worthwhile move. Itโll also contribute to lower heating bills which is always nice.
Raising the ceiling and adding Velux windows. 11/10. Iโve mentioned this before because itโs my favourite upgrade. The room feels so much bigger and I love the added natural light! Additionally , installing these solar powered motors which let me control the windows and blinds remotely has also been a 10/10.
On the topic of raising the ceiling; not adding exposed beams. 0/10. I just feel like the whiteness and length of this room makes the ceiling look too bare. Because of this, Iโm considering adding some faux beams and/or some hanging pendant lighting above the dining table to break up the room and add some vertical intrigue. You can let me know if you think this is a horrible idea though.
