I gained 150,000 followers in just 14 daysโฆ so let me tell you how I did that.
At the start of May, I began an experiment where Iโd be posting one short video every day for 30 days on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube shorts.
So, I did my research, came up with a list of video ideas that I thought would work, started posting them, and by day 14, my Instagram had grown from 9,000 to 100,000 followers, my TikTok had grown from like 40 followers to 25,000, and my YouTube, which was already pretty established, had grown by 25,000 subscribers.
I think the most valuable thing I learned from this experiment is that itโs good to do things that embarrass you. Might be a bit daft, but I was so embarrassed to put myself out there and start posting these short videos because it wasnโt something Iโd done before and I knew that my friends, family, and existing followers would all have a front row seat to me trying and very possibly, failing during this experiment.
Thereโs an interview with the actor Austin Butler where he touches on this topic and he says someone once told him, embarrassment is an under explored emotion, and that you should go out there and make a fool of yourself. I think thatโs some golden advice.
If youโd like to see some follow up videos where I share how I came up with video ideas that worked for me and also reveal how much Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube paid me for this experiment, be sure to follow along.
