Is it possible that the ramp at Giza was inside the pyramid the whole time? That's what French architect Jean-Pierre Houdin has been arguing since 1999, working from his father's idea and then years of modelling it with engineers at Dassault Systèmes. He proposed that you run an ordinary ramp for the bottom third, then tear it down and feed the stone back into the structure while everything above that climbs a spiral ramp buried a few metres inside the outer face. The corners stay clear because the ramp never touches them. At every turn he puts an open notch (about 10m2) where a hoist turns the block 90 degrees onto the next run. And there is a notch. It’s about 82m up the north-east edge with an L-shaped chamber sitting behind it. Then in 1986, a French team ran a gravity survey of the pyramid looking for hidden rooms and discovered the density dropped along all four edges in the shape of a spiral. Could that spiral be evidence of the ramp? #Pyramids #AncientEgypt #Giza #Architecture #AncientEngineering
