Taco night was the highlight of the week growing up. Today, we’re upgrading that classic American taco dinner with homemade versions of everything that came in the box, plus a few extras.
I’ll show you how to make taco sauce with ancho and guajillo chiles, mix your own taco seasoning, and turn store-bought corn tortillas into crunchy taco shells in the oven. Then we’re cooking ground beef with the sauce, a splash of Modelo, and fresh lime before setting up a taco bar with guacamole and all the fixings.
For the final upgrade, we’re making a Taco Bell-inspired Cheesy Gordita Crunch with a cheesy flour tortilla wrapped around a crispy shell. Make extra seasoning and freeze the sauce in cubes so your next taco night is easier.
