This Hades 2 documentary details the development of the indie game Hades 2 and goes behind the scenes of its creation. Discover why Supergiant Games, the creators of Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades, finally decided to make a sequel after creating four original IPs in a row. The documentary also explores all the design decisions that Supergiant Games made, such as why they felt the need to replace Zagreus with Melinoë, Hades II’s new protagonist.
It also takes a close look at the real-life origin of Melinoë and how Greg Kasavin, the studio’s creative director, found her buried within an ancient book featuring poems dedicated to the Greek Gods. The team learned many lessons from making the original Hades and this inspired them to develop not one, but two distinct routes for players to explore. Furthermore, it explores why Supergiant Games decided to release the sequel in Early Access once again.
