The MS Mediterranean Sky began its life in 1953 as the TSMV City of York, a passenger and cargo liner built in the UK for service between London and South Africa. In 1971, it was sold to Karageorgis Lines of Greece and was extensively converted into a modern cruise ferry, becoming the MS Mediterranean Sky. For over two decades, it operated popular routes, primarily between Greece and Italy. However, financial difficulties for its owner led to the ship being decommissioned in 1996. It remained laid up in the port of Patras until 1999, when it was towed to the Gulf of Elefsina, a bay near Athens known for being a holding ground for inactive vessels. Abandoned and neglected, the ship began to take on water in late 2002 and started listing. To prevent it from fully sinking in the shipping lanes, it was towed to shallow water and intentionally beached. By January 2003, the ship had capsized onto its port side, where its half-submerged wreck has remained ever since, slowly deteriorating and becoming a haunting landmark in the gulf. Now, the time has come for Brick & Gear to conquer that vessel with a combination of two vehicles! The second and much larger displacement version of my landing craft, carrying a small 4x4 rover that will land on the capsized boat's funnel!
