How can complex procedural generation work for infinite worlds in cases where data needs to have access to surrounding data? In this video I describe a layer-based approach to this problem. This video is from 2013 but I later released the LayerProcGen framework as open source in 2024: https://runevision.github.io/LayerProcGen/ Also see this talk about it which has much more info on how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oJGkx0K8UQ
