Filming Vipers With a Baby? Snake Documentary BTS

What is it really like to film a rare wildlife spectacle while caring for a newborn? On our recent trip to capture the tree-hunting Nose-horned vipers (Vipera ammodytes) along the Adriatic coast, Zuzana and I brought our ultimate co-creator: our two-month-old son! In this behind-the-scenes video, we pull back the curtain on the exhausting but beautiful reality of field biology as new parents. Balancing feeding schedules, diaper changes, and sleep deprivation while tracking venomous ambush predators in the dense Mediterranean Macchia was the ultimate test of our documentary filmmaking skills. You’ll see how we managed our camera equipment alongside baby gear, the challenges of staying perfectly quiet in the bushes to avoid scaring the migrating birds, and how this expedition completely changed our perspective on being a filmmaking family. We proved that natural history filmmaking doesn't have to stop when you start a family—it just gets a lot more interesting! 🌿 Support Our Mission: If you want to help us continue producing high-quality natural history footage and sharing the truth about the world's most misunderstood animals, consider supporting our channel!
