Hindu Temples I Visited in Pakistan
Pakistan is home to a fascinating Hindu heritage, but many of its temples have not been well preserved, and some have been abandoned, damaged, restricted or left inaccessible.
I’ve visited several Hindu sites across Pakistan, including Katas Raj Temples, Sadhu Bela, the Chaukhandi area temples, and a temple near Mirpur that was submerged when the Mangla Dam was built and only becomes accessible when the water level drops.
There are many other Hindu temples and sites scattered across the country, including Hinglaj Mata Temple in Balochistan, Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir in Karachi, Shiv Mandir in Umerkot, Shri Varun Dev Mandir at Manora, and the temples of Nagarparkar.
Some are still active places of worship, while others are in varying states of preservation or are difficult to access. I’ve even tried to visit a temple near Karachi but was told I couldn’t reach it because of Army restrictions.
There’s a huge and often overlooked Hindu history across Pakistan, and I’m still discovering it.
