I'm 6'2" (187 cm) and I've been living in a tiny minivan for more than 3 years - completely by choice. πŸ˜‚ So why on earth would someone this tall choose a low-roof minivan over a big van where you can actually stand up? Before this, I spent 5 years living in a much larger van in New Zealand, where I could stand up, cook in a proper kitchen, have a shower inside and carry a ridiculous amount of stuff. When I moved to Australia, I deliberately went the other direction and bought a small 4WD Mitsubishi Delica D:5. And somehow... three years later, I'm still here. πŸ˜† In this video I talk about what it's actually like being 6'2" and living in a minivan, why not being able to stand up inside doesn't bother me much, how I cook, sleep, get dressed and spend time inside the van, and the two things that are deal-breakers for me when choosing a van. I also look at the very different opinions people have about living in a low-roof van - including some hilarious Facebook comments - and explain why I think being able to stand up shouldn't automatically be the deciding factor when choosing a van for van life. And at the end, we have a look at a large AWD Mercedes van that I could potentially win in a lottery... and I explain why I would probably sell it rather than move into it. πŸ˜‚ What do you think? Could you live in a low-roof van if you couldn't stand up inside? Or is standing height a non-negotiable for you?
