⛔️ This is a daffodil and it can kill your dog! Daffodils — Narcissus — contain toxic alkaloids, including lycorine, which attack a dog’s gastrointestinal system and can affect the nervous system and heart. The most dangerous part? The bulb. If a dog digs it up and ingests enough, it can cause violent vomiting, severe diarrhoea, extreme abdominal pain, dehydration, tremors, heart rhythm disturbances — and in severe poisoning cases, collapse and death. So influencers — please stop filming “cute” reels of dogs running through fields of daffodils. And it’s not just daffodils. Tulips and hyacinths contain similar toxins in their bulbs. Crocuses can cause significant gastrointestinal upset. And lilies — especially true lilies from the Lilium species like Easter lilies and Tiger lilies — are extremely dangerous. While they are most famously lethal to cats, ingestion in dogs can still cause serious gastrointestinal and systemic illness. If your dog has chewed any of these plants — call your vet immediately. #toxictodogs #dafodils #springflowers #dogsofinstagram #wolfdog #toxic
