How Kids Go to Kindergarten in Yakutsk in Extreme Cold
Join us for a full winter day in Yakutsk — as we take my five-year-old son to kindergarten in extreme cold. You’ll see our morning routine, how we dress layer after layer, the short drive to kindergarten, and what it’s like inside: group rooms, nap spaces, and how the day is organized.
On the day I filmed this, it was -52°C in the morning with thick fog. By evening it warmed up a little and the fog cleared — so we decided to walk home after picking him up. I’ll also share an interesting local detail: kindergartens usually stay open even in severe мороз, while schools can have an extreme weather day and switch to online learning.
