In Today's Episode:
What started as one man's plan to sell his Lego collection and put his grandkids through college spiraled into one of the strangest internet scandals in recent memory. The story is complete with a corporate store takeover, a "We Steal From Old People" picket campaign, a YouTuber fleeing to Mexico, a SWAT raid, and accusations of a "Mormon Mafia."
An 83-year-old spent 15 years building a collection of 780 LEGO sets and over 1,200 minifigures, then handed it to his son Brian to sell on consignment through a Bricks & Minifigs franchise in Oregon. Then corporate took over the store overnight, and the collection seemingly vanished into a maze of denials, lawsuits, and police involvement.
