Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch doesn't support any form of 21:9, 32:9 or greater aspect ratios by default - but there's a small fix that can be applied which is the exact same for Ni No Kuni II.
This fix removes the black borders for higher aspect ratios even in cutscenes.
Unfortunately this is the only known fix and requires you to run a third-party application BEFORE you launch the game.
