How to make a deduction game (without writing any code)
Chapters
Can you build a complex deduction game like The Case of the Golden Idol without writing a single line of code?
In this Unity devlog, I show you exactly how I remade those iconic mechanics using the Adventure Creator plugin.
I’ve spent the last 6 months building my own detective game, Mini Murder Mysteries, and I did it entirely without code. To show you how powerful a no-code workflow can be, I’m deconstructing the process of building a deduction level from scratch.
We’ll cover everything from scene planning in a Google Doc to setting up complex logic containers in Unity.
In this tutorial:
* The Planning Phase: How to map out correct/incorrect statements and inventory words.
* Adventure Creator Setup: Using the Inventory Manager to categorize level-specific clues.
* Logic Containers: How to create the "slots" for your deduction board.
* Building Inspect Panels: Creating pop-up windows with clickable "collectible" words.
* The Submit Logic: Setting up the backend check to see if the player solved the case.
