The Plague (and how it Scarred our Myths and Culture) ✯ Monsters of the Week

#MonstersOfTheWeek Thanks for watching Monsters of the Week, a RagnarRox show. If you want to support my channel, please consider joining my Patreon :) http://ragnarrox.com/patreon/ __ This video explores the plague; how pandemic outbreaks birthed the monsters and demons of our myths and legends, and how its impact is still prevalent in our everyday consumption of modern pop culture. On fatal diseases, dragons, vampires, zombies and somehow I managed to squeeze Albert Camus into this again. --Credits-- -Writing- Original script: Michael Saba -Art- Plague animations; illustration by Taylor Payton https://www.artstation.com/taylor-payton Edward Delandre Werewolves artstation.com/edwarddelandre Sunima Dragons fighting in the sky (original illustration) sunima.deviantart.com Uses Assets from https://freevectormaps.com -Additional voices- Christina Lee (https://twitter.com/MinaAnnLee) Benjamin Cook (https://twitter.com/TheTaleFoundry) -Sources Wikipedia https://www.cdc.gov/plague/index.html https://www.cdc.gov/features/1918-flu-pandemic/index.html https://www.britannica.com/event/Black-Death https://jmvh.org/article/the-history-of-plague-part-1-the-three-great-pandemics/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/british/middle_ages/black_01.shtml -Movies/TV shows shown in this video- Black Death (2010) Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) Dracula (1931) Dracula (1958) Nosferatu (1922) Häxan (1922) The Walking Dead (2010-) Game of Thrones (2011-2019) All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) Interview with the Vampire (1994) Macbeth (1948) The Wizard of Oz (1939) The Name of the Rose (1986) Samsara (2012) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) The Fly (1986) Body Snatchers (1993) Shaun of the Dead (2004) Land of the Dead (2005) 28 Days Later (2002) Shadow of the Vampire (2000) -Video Games shown in this video- Pathologic Classic HD (2015) Pathologic 2 (In Dev) Bloodborne (2015) The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt (2015) Vampyr (2018) -Music used in this video- Contains music from - Pathologic OST by Ice-Pick Lodge - The Void OST by Mushroomer http://www.mushroomer.net/Void.html - Utopia by Theodor Bastard https://theodorbastard.bandcamp.com/album/utopia - Silent Hill 4 OST by Akira Yamaoka - Dead Space 2 promotional sountrack “Ring Around the Rosie” - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines OST by Rik Schaffer - Serpent in the Staglands OST by V-Axys https://v-axys.bandcamp.com/album/serpent-in-the-staglands-ost - Assassin’s Creed: Origins OST by Sarah Schachner Uses samples from Castlevania (Netflix) OST by Trevor Morris __ If you should believe that a work of yours had been used without proper credit or appropriate authorization, please contact me: [email protected]
