Hidden deep in the mountains about 50 mi (80.5 km) from Pyongyang lies Kaechon Internment Camp, better known as Camp 14. It’s regarded as North Korea’s deadliest political prison and part of a vast system of labor camps.
North Korea claims places like this don't exist. But satellite photos, defector testimonies and U.N. reports say otherwise. These political prison camps — kwanliso — are the black holes of the Kim Jong-un regime: prisoners go in, and almost none come out.
