In this video, we will explore the concept of antifragility by the author Nassim Nicholas Taleb and how it applies to the video games industry and more importantly how it can help in shaping up the future of video games.
But first, What is Antifragility?
There are things that benefit from shocks; they flourish and expand when exposed to volatility, randomness, chaos, and stressors.
These things are called antifragile.
The term antifragile is coined by the American Lebanese author Nassim Nicholas Taleb, in his book with the same name.
In the video, I make the case that only Antifragile game developers and publishers have a chance of surviving. The battle royale gaming mode is a clear example of how rapid changes in the industry can lead to new leaders in the market. Sony interactive entertainment, Activision are among the examples with games like call of duty and the introduction of the battle royale formula after the success of fortnight.
