Unity 7 is HERE! ...Well, The Alpha Is.
The long wait for CoreCLR for Unity developers is getting closer to the end. Today Unity just released the first Alpha of Unity 7 and this is FINALLY the version that has CoreCLR powering the Editor instead of the increasingly outdated Mono runtime. It's baby steps though, as this release simply switched from Mono to CoreCLR, it's still an old version of C# and .NET being used, just the official C# release instead of Mono. Over time they will focus on getting up to C# 14 and .NET 10 support. Obviously this is an alpha and don't even think about using it on a production project!
