It's not often when a filmmaker matches up with a project quite so perfectly as Guillermo del Toro and Frankenstein. A passion project for the auteur years in the making, we've been looking forward to this one for a long time now. CineFix pal and IGN Associate Director of Entertainment Features Scott Collura joins Clint Gage to chat about his review of GDT's gothic romance vision of the Mary Shelley classic.
Where does this fit on del Toro's spectrum, from Pan's Labyrinth on one end to Pacific Rim on the other? How does such a unique familiar bring something new to a classic story that's been retold for more than100 years?
Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is on Netflix now, starring Jacob Elordi as the monster, Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, with Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz and Charles Dance who's doomed to play the same paternal bastard for the rest of his life.
