In this Art of the Scene we’re talking about car chases. Director Paul Thomas Anderson created a chase where there’s no hard turns and only a single crash. They’re basically just driving in a straight line. Despite that, the “River of Hills” chase in One Battle After Another might be cinema’s greatest car chase of the 2020s.
In this One Battle After Another breakdown, we talked to some of the key creatives on the film, including the director of photography, Michael Bauman, the film’s editor, Andy Jurgensen, the location manager Michael Glaser, the Stunt Coordinator, Brian Mochleit, and a stunt driver, Robert Naggle to discuss how they shot the climatic One Battle After Another car chase scene.
This One Battle After Another interview filled us in on everything about the car chase, from the influence of Alfred Hitchcock on PTA to how face they were driving with actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti in the cars.
