Hi all! Another one on the endless list of my favorite classical pieces. I had a nice slice of education on Brahms in school paired with Strauss (they were buddies). My ears always tend to gravitate towards certain things and Brahms had it in a lot of his pieces. Loved his rhythm and he was considered a composer who took the old style and mixed it with the new. Makes me think of all the neoclassical shred guitar players. The Romantic Period though loved thier dynamics hence the many tone changes and swells. One of my favorite things about Brahms though was, for a good part of his life he was very proper and clean shaven then one day he over it and grew the beard out. Had a great quote about it too. Something along the lines of "I am growing a beard, prepare for an hideous image" Like a lot of successful composers back then, he has a catalogue of super stuff but this one has always been my jam.
