I Bought the New Version. I Hated It
Chapters
I recently picked up a pair of top-of-the-line Pro Mark steel chainsaw chaps ā and I don't like them. Too long, too thick, too many buckles, and the redesigned thigh pocket is a mess. So instead of keeping the new pair, I broke out the sewing kit and repaired my old, worn-out ones to get another fire season out of them.
In this video I walk through the full repair: replacing torn webbing straps, swapping in new buckles, hand-stitching heavy-duty synthetic thread made for denim, and getting my favorite chaps back in action ā better than before. If you've ever had a piece of gear get "upgraded" into something worse, or you're just curious about basic repair sewing, this one's for you.
