We visited Sarasota Conservatory (Rescue)
Today was a special day visiting our local parrot rescue. It was the perfect day to jump in the car and head to Myakka City—beautiful farm country, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I first met Greg Para, the owner, over the phone while searching for a rescue that could use two of Tico's cages after we recently replaced them with new ones. I also wanted to explore what we had right here in our own backyard.
The second reason for our visit was that we're planning to raffle off one of my guitars and donate a portion of the proceeds to a parrot rescue. After today, we know exactly where we want to help!
Greg has rescued more than 70 parrots of all species from previous owners. What a sight it was meeting and greeting as many of them as possible. Every bird has its own personality and story.
To add to the fun, Greg has a 4-month-old warthog that will eventually grow to over 300 pounds, along with a few regular pigs already that size! There are also donkeys, tortoises, and dogs, making this an amazing place for anyone who could use a little animal therapy.
We'll keep you posted on the guitar giveaway, so keep watching and keep subscribing. There's also some new music on the way!
P.S. We would have loved to bring Tico along today, but since we didn't know what to expect—and with all those rescued parrots—we decided it was best to let him sit this adventure out
