Ultimate Terrain Shaders On vs Off Comparison
You don't need to tell me the terrain is bad, I already know that. the purpose of the video and the scene is to show off the quality difference between the default Unity terrain shading and my shaders.
Ultimate Terrain Shader features used in this scene:
- Procedural texture tiling breakup
- Height based blending
- Fast Triplanar mapping
- Proper PBR mapping
Default unity terrain shaders don't actually follow the same lighting rules as the standard shaders, which is part of why they can look so terrible and out of place. This tool fixes that.
Performance does indeed take a small hit vs the default shaders, but without the procedural tiling breakup (which is toggle-able), my shaders actually outperform the default shaders by about 10%.
