Hello guys! I've been busy lately. One of my hobbies so far has been playing and modding REPO, and I wanted to share with you guys! I'm not sure how the video turned out, I'm not really great narrator, so I think I would add extra information here: The hotswapping isn't possible, or at least I didn't find a way, but it's still nice that in Rider, launching project actually compiles the project and launches REPO! I haven't tried using any editors beside this one, as I tried once using Visual Studio, and experience was horrible, while I'm so in love with JetBrains IDEs, that I felt at home! 💖 #notsponsored Beside that, what helped me learn Unity, was ChatGPT, and also a plugin/mod called Unity Explorer: https://github.com/sinai-dev/UnityExplorer It's a plugin for BepInEx that basically can be loaded in any Unity game which lets you browse the structure of the game, beside that, you can also edit components, change scenes, etc. it's so amazing! Through exploration of Unity component tree, this way I managed to add a feature to my mod that toggles HUD display! Comparing REPO modding to Minecraft modding is quite unfair. REPO is a smaller in scale game, and it offers so much tools being backed by Unity. If you know how to create Unity games, and use its API flawlessly, you'll be a great modder! With Minecraft, you need to know a plethora of stuff to make something great! Rendering, how to make your own GUI system, networking, etc. but with Unity, you still need to know these concepts, but... at a way higher level, which makes it more approachable. Beside that, REPO's code base is sooo much smaller in comparison to Minecraft's. Learning everything about Minecraft's code base will take years (as there multiple millions lines of code), while learning REPO's code possibly won't take more than two weeks of consequent effort (I don't know exact numbers, as I just wanted to make one mod haha). Here are the mods that I mentioned in the video: — MoreHeads: https://thunderstore.io/c/repo/p/YMC_MHZ/MoreHead/ — REPOconomy+: https://thunderstore.io/c/repo/p/PxntxrezStudio/REPOConomyPlus/ — Map Value Tracker: https://thunderstore.io/c/repo/p/Tansinator/Map_Value_Tracker/ — Valuable Inspector: https://thunderstore.io/c/repo/p/PxntxrezStudio/ValuableInspector/ — Valuable Tracker: https://thunderstore.io/c/repo/p/RJs_REPO_Mods/ValuableTracker/ — My REPO mods: https://thunderstore.io/c/repo/p/McHorse/ Beside that, I used dnSpy for decompiling the code: https://github.com/dnSpy/dnSpy/ I hope it was interesting, and thank you for reading! ✨
