The Cardboard Car

Throwback to the time I made a drivable cardboard car with my brother, out of an big cardboard grill box. Thanks for watching, DFTBA, and keep watching WeiszCracks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The first time I started really building things for myself was when I started the annual “summer project”. Inspired by Phineas and Ferb, the summer project was meant to be a single, moonshot project that seemed incredible -- something that would challenge me beyond what I had already accomplished. So, when my dad got a huge grill box, my brother and I decided to create this: It’s a drivable, cardboard car that my brother and I built in the summer of 2014. It’s comprised of a pair of longboard trucks, a few pieces of plywood, and one MASSIVE cardboard box. See, my brother and I grew up with a woodshop in our basement, and our dad taught us that there, we could build whatever we dreamed of. The Cardboard Car wasn’t the first summer project, but it was the first I did with my brother. Of course, it’s also the only one I have a video of. I had just recently gotten into YouTube, and when my brother and I heard that we were gonna have to get rid of our new set of wheels, I wanted to make a video of it so that we could keep it forever. This footage is clearly amateurish, as is the car. The shaky shots and rough transitions are blissfully emblematic of a time long before the the age of clean, polished videos. And the car’s messy paint lines, rough edges, and unpolished design appear uncharacteristic when compared to my recent projects. Clearly, I’ve changed a lot as a creator, but if nothing else, there’s one thing that has always stayed constant: Even now, I’m still just doin’ the best I can, with what I have. ___________________________________________________________ Music in this video: "Barbara Ann" by The Beach Boys
