Sierra Screamin' 3D Graphics Accelerator from 1996
Chapters
Retrospective on the only Sierra On-Line graphics card: the Screamin' 3D! That alone makes it a notable oddity, but it's also a Rendition Verite V1000, somewhat arguably the first PC GPU! Depends on definitions of course, but it's for sure the first to use a programmable core specifically to render 3D graphics and lighten CPU load. Yeah this thing can provide some awesome results for 1996, and naturally it came with a slew of shortcomings and general mid-90s quirkiness. Let's unbox this one and take a look!
