Why AAA Games Will NEVER Be The Same
Chapters
Back in the PS1–PS3 era, legendary game directors like Hideo Kojima, Fumito Ueda, and others crafted AAA games with bold creative vision. Titles like Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of the Colossus, and Bioshock weren’t just games — they were masterpieces that pushed the medium forward.
Fast forward to today: massive teams, long development cycles, and the constant pressure to deliver ROI have left many modern AAA games lacking a strong creative direction. Microtransactions, safe formulas, and corporate oversight often take priority over innovation.
In this video, I’ll break down why AAA games used to be outstanding, what changed, and whether we’ll ever see that golden era return.
Huge credit and thanks to shiraco for all the game footage I used from his channel.
