Wishlist on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1432850/Farewell_North/?utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=devlog6 I always get asked if you can pet the dog in Farewell North, but I'm actually making a game where you play as the dog rather than the human, so it's a bit of an odd question. I think a "Pet Me" button is pretty boring and perhaps a tad strange (no judgement), so I wanted to figure out the right way to approach this since so many people have asked about it. First I'll show you the process I took to introduce procedural animation into the game that allows the girl and the dog to look at one another in a natural way, and ensure that the girl's hands always make perfect contact with the dog for a proper pet. I'll then show you how I'm able to repurpose this functionality for other game tasks such as opening doors with minimal effort. Finally I'll show you how I solved the problem of not wanting to have a "Pet Me" button and instead was able to integrate it more naturally into the gameplay, by having the girl pet the dog when he's repetitively barking at nothing. Are you excited to pet the dog? Let me know in the comments, and don't forget to like, subscribe and of course, wishlist the game on Steam! I hope you enjoy the video! You play as a collie working alongside your human companion to explore, solve puzzles, and restore color to the islands. #devlog #gaming #videogames #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev #unity #unity3d #madewithunity #dog #pets #collie #bordercollie
