Correction: - 1mm per day is a mistake. It's 1/8th mm per day with the biobloc.

As mentioned in the video, none of this is medical advice. Unsurprisingly, drilling a piece of metal into your bone and forcibly splitting your upper jaw bone can have complications. Surgically cutting your mandible and upper jaw and repositioning them with titanium plates can also have complications. A thorough investigation and consultations with professionals in this space is the first place to start if either of these procedures sound helpful to you. @JawHacks is a great place to start. You'll find testimonials but also cautionary tales that are worth checking out.
The voiceover mistake at saying "1mm per day" instead of 1/8th mm per day (or 1mm per week) when discussing the expansion rate with the biobloc was quite unfortunate as John Mew provided some interesting logic for that specific rate. As he explains in his book The Cause and Cure of Malocclusion*: "The width of the periodontal membrane is about 1/8mm. If a standard expansion screw is opened by the conventional 1/4 turn, the two halves are separated by about 1/4 mm at each opening. This means that the periodontal membrane on each side is crushed flat. On the other hand 1/8 mm opening only reduces the space for the membrane by half its natural width leading a viable vascularization." I initially had a much longer section addressing this in the video but trimmed it out for time.
