Side Quest updates and using the Snapmaker J1S to build a better Prosthetic socket
finally, the audio is fixed. thanks to everyone who has stuck with me through this comedy of errors.
After a bit of a hiatus I thought that I'd share with you some of what I've been working on. During my time away from youtube, I've been working on a pile of projects around the shop. I resurrected a cnc lathe that was retired to the back shop, and rebuilt it to be a mill-turn machine with 2, 5 station tool changers. while I was rearranging the shop, I also brought my 18" G&E Shaper back into the front shop. You can make anything on a shaper, (except money).

The cat clip at the end is of the momma kitty and 3 babies that were dropped at my shop earlier this year. they aren't petting cats yet, maybe never. but they are keeping the squirrel population in check.
If you are, or know of an amputee that has the exact same amputation that I do (dis-articulation through the MCP joint with complete amputation of the fingers index through pinky, while retaining their thumb) and are interested in trying out my gear. go to the printables website and download the check socket file, print it out at 100% with 40-50% infill. check out the fit, if it fits decently take a picture of your partial paw and send it to [email protected] after I check it out, I'll email you back, and set up a time when we can have a zoom call to discuss the requirements and expectations.
heres a link to download the check socket file.

This file is naturally a left hand. if you need a right hand, simply mirror it in your slicer. print it at 100% with 40-50% infill.
Yes, there are quite a few conditions to participate in this trial.
The thing is, this device is for a very specific amputation. It isn't a situation of one device suits all. That's part of the issue with trying to service the partial hand prosthetics market. There are like 30 different possible amputation variations, and each one requires its own setup and design. This design could conceivably meet the needs for 7 of those variations by deleting 1 or more mechanical fingers. Right now, this trial is for only 1 of those variations.
