Due to the exceptional beauty of the landscape surrounding, as well as the outstanding architectural works created in almost two centuries ago, this line is one of the outstanding cultural and natural resources. This line passes through scenery landscapes of lower Austria Alps. Crossing over the mountain pass required the construction of several large railway line serpentines. Routing of the railway line required the construction of a wide variety of rail tunnels and viaducts. Old historical railway tunnels, galleries and viaducts along this railway line attract great attention with their beautiful appearance.
Today, this line is an important route for the traffic of numerous passenger and freight trains. This is the connection between the numerous European freight transport centers and ports on the Adriatic Sea. It explains the presence of large number of freight trains.
