I Found Shanghai’s Secret Cat Island (and China’s Most Beautiful Water Town)
I went to the most popular Chinese water town. I visited cat island in Shanghai. Don’t know what I enjoyed more.
Shanghai's Cat Island is a public welfare sanctuary and education base for over 400 stray and abandoned cats. Originally opened in Pudong in 2022, the relocated facility operates in a repurposed former kindergarten in Gucun Town, Baoshan District, utilizing the Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) model and offering free public visits and adoptions.
Zhouzhuang is a famous historic water town in Jiangsu province, China, located about 30 km southeast of Suzhou and 80 km from Shanghai. Known as China's "Number One Water Town," it features a 900-year history, ancient stone bridges, and traditional Ming and Qing dynasty courtyard homes split by interlaced canals.
