I was on my laptop at the time trying to figure out how to do it with observers instead of repeaters. Somehow I brute forced myself into figuring it out, and I needed a creative way to use it in a trap. Initially the idea was that I would be in a tunnel, they would assume the tunnel floor was the trap, so they would stand outside the tunnel, and I would pull the lever myself. Godis is the one who pitched the idea that the enemy should be tricked into pulling it. I added some exposed pistons to the design, and here we are.
