This video shows the complete genome sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, responsible for the COVID-19 epidemic (Wuhan-Hu-1). Each section represents a different gene. The red genes are the ones responsible for the virus structure. The blue and green ones provide the necessary machinery to infect and replicate. The black ones are the leader and trailer sequences. The letters represent the nucleotides that make up the genome of the virus (RNA). A, U, G, and C stands for Adenine, Uracil, Guanine, and Cytosine. Many RNA viruses, like SARS-CoV-2, ends in a long chain of adenine nucleotides (called poly-A tail) which increases the stability. This Karaoke version (SARS-aoke?) has been generated using Google Text-to-Speech and open data from the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
