I built my own visual scripting system, and it started as a way to run a video series where you create AI bots and I simulate them in challenges. I was proud of it, but I got roasted for making a custom node system.
I’m still keeping it because it makes the competition accessible. Anyone can participate, no matter what game engine they use or how experienced they are with coding.
And if you hate visual scripting, here’s the best part: people in the community figured out how to write bot logic in Python or JavaScript and automatically convert it into nodes for the system. So far we’ve simulated racing and volleyball, and the next project I’m building is a survival simulation.
