I asked ChatGPT to write code to park a car in a simulation I made.
For anyone curious...
this is using GPT-5.4 Thinking.
Prompt 1:
use the documentation at: https://github.com/theaia/AIGamePyLibrary/tree/main to create a python script for the Parking simulation. Use the details of that simulation to create a viable AI for whatever strategy you deem appropriate.
Prompt 2:
try again. your solution was not successful. One major thing I noticed was that the distance to stall was using GetTransform of self twice. you goofy silly stupid head. I did fix that and the car drove away from the stall and directly into a curb. Maybe focus less on the Timeplots and more on the actual solution
Prompt 3:
this is better but it's still not successful.
pros: you turn towards the parking stall cons: you run into the curb and reset repeatedly suggestions...
1. the spherecasts you've configured are fairly short and have a low radius. I'd consider making them longer and with a larger radius.
2. the raycasts all extend from the center of the car. the car width is roughly 6. the car length is roughly 10.8
3. stepping on the brake and setting the throttle to -1 will almost instantly make the car stop. something to consider if an obstacle is close. name the car "ChatGPT v3" name save save file "gpt_v3"

this is better but it's still not successful.
pros: you turn towards the parking stall. you stop when an obstacle is detected.
cons: when you detect a vehicle you stop and stay stopped and don't make any adjustments to progress towards the stall suggestions...
1. if you have an obstruction ahead of you, maybe consider reversing and steering in the inverse direction until the obstruction is clear... then proceeding forward. name the car "ChatGPT v4" name save save file "gpt_v4.txt"
Prompt 5:
v4 is still not successful.
pros: you turn towards the parking stall. you stop when an obstacle is detected.
cons: when you detect a vehicle you stop and adjust but can get stuck after a fair amount of adjusting...
1. if you have an obstruction ahead of you, maybe consider reversing and steering in the inverse direction until the obstruction is clear... then proceeding forward.
2. make sure you're not braking when trying to reverse. braking and reversing are good to stop quickly but if it creating confusing/complex logic then perhaps its better to ignore.
name the car "ChatGPT v5"
